I have a question based on today’s oilers events. I know Gabby doesn’t like Connor McDavid but I have an irrational love for him. How long do you think he will stay in Edmonton if they don’t get better? I think Edmonton is Connor’s home but how much longer can he deal with this? I think the Manning trade makes it worse. There is obvious bad blood there. I’ve seen people talk about this and wanted your opinion. Great job on the podcast. I love having a female hosted hockey podcast to listen to!

Honestly, I think the only GM stupid enough to move him is Peter Chiarelli but Chiarelli probably won’t have a job long enough to be able to do that because trading him anytime soon is just stupid.

If the bad blood doesn’t sort itself out, then they’re gonna have to trade away anyone seen as a “locker room issue” and will probably get a lesser return for the guy’s worth as a player.

I’d have to think McDavid only leaves Edmonton as a UFA, Tavares-style, but that would be 8 years down the line in 2026. Which feels like forever when you look at the recent state of the Oilers but a lot could happen in 8 years. He could request a trade, they could bring in a GM within the next 3 years that tears everything down and frees him before his NMC in 22-23, or they could bring in a GM/overall management turnover that makes Edmonton a serious contender and relive Gretzky-level glory days.
